Playback problems with HLS live streaming
We are using the Digital Rapids Touchstream HLS encoder and Level3. The JWPlayer works great when we use an RTMP stream, but we'd like to use HLS only. Our HLS performs perfectly on iOS devices, and also when the m3u8 are called directly on Android devices. However, there are problems with HLS on desktop devices. When watching the stream via the JWPlayer on a desktop, the player will not make seamless transistions to other quality layers (there is often a large jump in time when switching to a different quality layer). The bigger problem is that sometimes, the video will freeze completely, but the audio will continue uninterrupted.
The vendor tells us that "The HLS encoder meets the standards outlined by Apple in terms of specifications for streaming to iOS devices. It will create H.264 video and AAC audio files wrapped into segmented transport muxed files."
Has anyone had experience using Touchstream HLS with JW Player?
