Running locally causes Flash warning

I'm running an instance of the JW Player locally because it needs to run from a webpage stored on a flash drive. The video plays, but Flash throws a warning message in IE8 and Firefox on WinXP that I need to get rid of:
bc.. Adobe Flash Player has stopped a potentially unsafe operation.

The following local application on your computer or network:
C:/my_path.../player.swf

is trying to communicate with this Internet-enabled location:
C:/my_path.../CLICK_ME.htm

To let this application communicate with the Internet, click Settings. You must restart the application after changing your settings.

I've seen instances of this error message all over this forum (people running it from CD's, but it's usually because they're trying to use the viral plugin), but I haven't seen a solution yet. Is it even possible?

Here are my files: www.viktorwithak.com/Temp/FlashDrive.zip

If you wish to get rid of this error, replace all instances of where allowscriptaccess is set to always, to never, inside of jwplayer.js

This can easily be fixed by setting your Global setting

here is a link that will help you

http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager04.html

This happens to me too when I do "housecleaning" of my cache(s) etc.
Then I just make th eappropriate changes and voila it works

Usually since this is a local implementation it is for CDs or USB drives though, so you can’t expect every single end user to change those settings. Changing the references I mentioned above works though.

Changed all four allowscriptaccess is set to always, to never, inside of jwplayer.js.

Still get the same error as before.

Adobe Flash Player has stopped a potentially unsafe operation.

The following local application on your computer or network:
C:/my_path.../player.swf

is trying to communicate with this Internet-enabled location:
C:/my_path.../LAUNCH.html

To let this application communicate with the Internet, click Settings. You must restart the application after changing your settings.

Please help.

Thanks,

Z

How exactly does this fix the issue? I thought flash had tight security parameters that doesn't let you run a local swf file at all, or read any contents from a local drive. But JWplayer seems to work fine with allowscriptaccess=never

Np…do you have an example?

Yes, other players:

JPlayer
http://www.jplayer.org/latest/developer-guide/#jPlayer-flash-security

JS Video:
http://help.videojs.com/discussions/problems/2245-urgent-flash-warning-when-using-local-files

Setting the allowscriptaccess=never breaks other players, whereas jwplayer still seems to run local files (or files burned to a cd / dvd) without throwing a flash error (when the param is changed as you instructed above).

Okay, so you are saying that this works fine with our player, then?

Yes, works fine. How did you override Flash's strict "same-domain only" security protocols, though, without the user having to allow an exception, and without breaking the player? I've been talking with your licensing dept about using this on copied disks, and want to be sure it's going to work this way consistently.

That I am not sure of. Who are you talking to?

Hi Ethan,

I'm having a problem with the JW player. It doesn't autostart when loaded from a local source and it doesn't return anything to the JS api is that normal behavior?
