HTTP streaming with wowza

Hi,

Is it possible to use JW player to receive HTTP streams as opposed to rtmp streams

Im looking for a way to show videos that are progressive downloaded, like youtube players

I have Wowza installed on my servers but RTMP seems to be very low bandwidth or packet shaped, HTTP video on my iphone is alot better and I get full bandwidth and progressive downloads

Regards

Keith

Hi Keith,

I believe Woza’s “HTTP Streaming” support is for Apple devices, so we don’t support that.

Wowza does support RTMPT (RTMP over HTTP, port 80), but that’s the extent of it.

So, we do support Wowza for RTMP, but not HTTP.

It is also HTTP streaming for all systems based on chunking of packets.

Test this stream this can be played with OSMF players without any problem.

But With Jw player it is not working yet which was supposed by me earlier.

We do not support Adobe HTTP streaming at present (also note this only works on Flash Player 10.1).

We do have experimental support for Apple’s M3U8 streaming, and are releasing this as a beta soon.

Good to listen that for m3u8 support. Is there any plan in your road map to get Adobe HTTP Streaming.

And for your point to support older flash version, I think Flash player 10.1 is not an issue as both player doesnt work with flash lite then If a user hv flash can upgrade to 10.1 without any hassle. should I add this as feature request? as I would like to see this happened.

We’re releasing support for Apple HTTP Streaming in a bit. We don’t have plans for supporting Adobe HTTP streaming, but Apple HTTP streaming is actually the same thing. Please keep an eye upon our blog!
