Support avi

I have used your player since the beginning of the JW player. I was wondering if the player supports AVI files or do they still need to be converted to flv files?

Thanks.

AVI is not supported by Flash or HTML5, so it is not supported by us either.

We support all the following formats – http://www.longtailvideo.com/support/jw-player/jw-player-for-flash-v5/12539/supported-video-and-audio-formats

Please take a look on this page: *http://www.earthlingsfilm.ru/resources* .
In RSS playlist xml file: *http://earthlingsfilm.ru/files/flv/food.xml* you can find entries with *.AVI* sources, so *JWPlayer* can play *.AVI*, but don't know how this implemented.

You should download the file and check the encoding. Just because the extension says .avi doesn’t mean it is actually that format.

Why not email that webmaster? They are probably using some script to generate the files which has the extension, but the encoding is most likely not AVI.
