Version 4.0 - FLV File - No video, only Audio

I downloaded the 4.0 non-commercial - i cannot get it to play the video. It shows a blank screen, and plays the audio fine.

I see that others have had a simialr problem, anyone know the solution?

I would love to buy a commerical license, but am obviously disappointed that there is the glaring bug.

I am encountering this same problem. FLV file plays fine on older version of player, but audio only (no video) on latest version.

Same issue, Video was working fine before, was pulling the swf from this site but all of a sudden it stopped working. Assuming its the same issue after the upgrade happened.

Since I upgraded to version 4.0, my videos downloaded from youtube are not playing anymore... Only sound, without video. There is a fix for that ?

Does anyone know if Version 3.4 can play multiple flv movies from an xml loaded playlist? I am able to make it work with a single file but do not know how to with an xml playlist of flv files.

I've tried 'all' the suggestions, both here and in last year's "no sound" thread, and have had no luck...

I get only sound in both the latest player (v4) and the older one (v3) and I tried .mp4 and .mov files

- the exact same video 'can' be seen via the QuickTime player plugin
by clicking on the link "an Impossible Mission" which is above the JW player...

The JW FLV Media Player is Adobe Flash Player based. The media files must use codecs that are supported by the Adobe Flash Player. Being able to view a media file in QT, Windows Media, or other media players has little to do with the file being usble in an Adobe Flash Player based player.

Hi kLink ( thanx for the comeback ),

So does the player 'convert' MPeg video files to .FLV (or .swf) before playing them or
are you saying that I have to create .mp4 (or .mov) etc. files differently from the usual way ?

I use Final Cut Studio (the latest Compressor) to edit/create video files.
What would I have to do to make them work in this player ??

The player will play an MP4 container file provided that the video and audio codecs that were used to encode the video and audio are supported by flash.

For the MP4 container file, the most common video codec is H.264 and the audio is usually either MP3 or AAC.

so when you are encoding the MP4, choose H.264 for the video and AAC for the audio and also make the selection "Fast Start" or the equivalent which places the MOOV atoms at the front of the file.

The player.swf 4.20 version only gives me audio with my flv files. The 4.160 version works fine. My flv files are encoded with On2 VP6. I think there is a serious problem here.

I had flv player... all of a sudden it stoped playing the audio when I try to view a video. The I uninstalled it and reinstalled it again, with no results. I still can not hear the audio. Then I unistalled it and installed the version 4.0 flv player, with still no sound. My previous version was 2.0. I dont know any technical terms or 3 letter words of codecs and other stuff.. I am using windows vista... is there nyway I could bring my audio back. :"(
