NSV (Nullsoft Video)

This audio stream in the NSV format for Winamp plays fine in JWPlayer (I'm using the player on longtailvideo.com for demonstration because I haven't created a public site yet):

But when I try to play a video stream in the NSV format, I have problems. The following doesn't load the video stream at all:

However, by setting the type as "sound", I can get JWPlayer to play very choppy audio:

Apparently JWPlayer can play the audio but not the video. Is it theoretically possible to play Nullsoft video with Flash?

Wowza does not do nsv video if my memory serves correct.


Red5 does with the shoutcast jar.

I recommend thunder snow over wowza and red5.

In my experience, most NSV files play just fine with the JW Player…

I did some searching myself, but could only find one other NSV stream, which I can't get to work in JWPlayer, but can play in WinAmp:

If you load that file, and set the “provider” flashvar to “sound”, it should work.

Sorry Ethan, We're talking about 'video', not 'Sound'.

The nsv video MUST be vp6x or h264(x264) format. Your link is vp3+aacp which the jwplayer cannot handle.

The jwplayer 'could' play nsv video if they added a thunder snow parser engine.

The player link sample I provided is h264 nsv video, and pure as3 code.

Sorry to bring this back up again. However I am getting the copy audio, it works fine in VLC Player but is chop on my site.

This works for me.

I just tested your file in – http://www.longtailvideo.com/support/jw-player-setup-wizard, and set provider to sound, it works.
