No audio with JW Player 6 Premium and live HLS (m3u8) streaming

Hi everybody, I have an issue with JW player 6 Premium and an m3u8 live streaming file. This file is played well in html5 but not in flash because in flash video is OK but there isn't audio and if you select autostart it doesn't start anymore. I need to use the flash version. With adaptiveprovider in jw 5 some m3u8 live streams worked. As an example this streaming works in jw player 6 flash too (ad primary): http://wpc.6f9f.edgecastcdn.net/806F9F/wowza/ios/ipad/playlist.m3u8 audio and video work you can test in the wizard but the most part that I tested not, if they, only using the HTML5 version. Live M3U8 live this work well in html5 but in flash not because there isn't audio only video: http://188.165.228.216:51935/mariorossi/DMAX/- 156850092_quicklive/playlist.m3u8 Searching on the web I've found some very very expensive plugin that allow you to play and embed HLS m3u8 live streaming file in flash player but I can't afford them. The previusly linked file with one of the paid plugins works both audio and video as you can see clicking here: http://osmfhls.kutu.ru/static/swf/StrobeMediaPlayback.swf?src=http://188.165.228.216:51935/mariorossi/DMAX/-156850092_quicklive/playlist.m3u8&plugin_m3u8=http://osmfhls.kutu.ru/static/swf/OSMFHLSPlugin.swf&autoPlay=true . I hope I will find a solution because I need to embed these m3u8 in flash player (html5 isn't supported by all browsers today) Thanks in advance.

I see the no audio issue. How are you encoding?

It's a third part stream, so I don't know that, but with other paid plugins it works well, both audio and video are ok

I tried many other stream and audio is missing in all them. As this: http://fl1.sz.xlcdn.com/live/_definst_/sz=kgroup=topcalcio24/playlist.m3u8 . It is possible to set in the player script 2 url, one containing the m3u8 (to play in html5 on mobile devices) and one containing the normal rtmp url to play with flash player (on computers)?

I really would need to know how the streams are being encoded.

I've found out in a forum discussion: http://www.longtailvideo.com/support/forums/jw-player/servers-and-streaming/27872/adaptive-provider-no-audio-stream/ that a ticket has been opened for this and a patch has been published: http://www.longtailvideo.com/support/forums/jw-player/player-development-and-customization/27646/patch-for-adaptive-ts-without-audio . How can I apply this patch? Thanks

It seems that this problem has been fixed with changeset 2376. Where I can find the latest adaptiveProvider.swf?

I think that streams like this are encoded with Flash media encoder and FMS (RTMP): http://live.webcaston.com:1935/live/channel/ci3232321112/playlist.m3u8

@Tom – That ticket is about a beta provider for the JW5 player which is no longer being developed. Any future fixes or patches to HLS will be introduced in future JW6 builds.

There is a version of adaptivePlayer in which this problem has been fixed?

Another question: is it possibile to specify 2 or 2 different files to play in jwplayer 6? To play a file if on a computer (using flash) or another if on a mobile (usino html5)?

I’m afraid the Adaptive Provider for V5 was never completed, it was merged into V6 premium. We don’t have the V5 provider available as it was entirely beta and we aren’t going to support it.

Yes, you can specify two files, using a sources block, for example – http://www.longtailvideo.com/support/jw-player/29394/hls-with-mp4-fallback

Ton, Ethan: this ticket #1637 is for a different issue, which has been fixed and implemented in JW6 a while ago.

I also confirmed the (MP3) audio of this stream not being played. We’ll look into the issue and create another ticket for this.

Ok , I hope you have understood where the missing audio problem so that you can fix it in the next release of jw6. I don't show many people have noticed this problemi but I've tested many live m3u8 files and a part of them has no audio in jw6 flash mode and only in jw6 htm5 mode both audio and video

I'm having the same issue with AAC audio only streams with 6.1.2972. The issue I'm seeing is only with browser support, iPad works fine audio only.

Does it matter that the m3u8 files that I posted here about don't work fine with every version of JW Player? I ask you this just because I haven't understood why you set the priority of ticket 1874 to low. I just want to know your criterion, not to claim :-)
Have an happy new year

@Jeremy: not sure what your issue is? This thread is about A/V videos where the audio is not heard.

@Tom: we’ve indeed identified that this bug is not a regression (which I thought it was). Therefore it is lower priority. We also know what causes the issue (the MP3 stream does not have the correct stream type of 0×03). It looks like that’s something we can easily correct for though. Since it’s lower prio, it might end up in either 6.2 or 6.3.

Hi, I've seen that the target for this ticket has been changed to "Backlog". What does it mean? Will the problem be fixed with JW Player 6.2? (I've read somewhere that v6.2 will be relased by the end of March, is it right?). Thank you

Hmm, the issue is fixed; I just checked with 6.2 and the test-stream from that ticket. I’ll ask my colleague to set it fixed.

6.2 will get released around Feb 6th.

We are facing the same issue even after we moved to JWPlayer 6.2 - video and audio work fine on HTML5, but we only see video in Flash container.

Can you confirm that this issue has been fixed in the latest released version 6.2.3115?

I also have the same problem here is the infor of the stream
Stream #0:0: Video: h264 (Main) ([27][0][0][0] / 0x001B), yuv420p, 640x360 [SAR 1:1 DAR 16:9], 12.50 fps, 25 tbr, 90k tbn, 50 tbc
Stream #0:1: Audio: aac ([15][0][0][0] / 0x000F), 22050 Hz, stereo, fltp, 5 kb/s
any idea ?

Here is an example stream showing the issue: http://media.mox.tv.s3.amazonaws.com/00000000/hls/00000000-a.m3u8

If I manually switch to any quality level, audio works fine. But when the JWPlayer 6.2 in Flash mode initially starts playing the video, the video is fine but there is no audio.

John, it does look like we have this issue fixed in 6.3. Can you email to support [at] so we can send you a beta player?
