only sound, no video

here is the url http://oya.myqnapcloud.com/photo/p/

click into jwplayer on the left to see the test video

here is the video itself - http://oya.myqnapcloud.com/photo/p/api/video.php?vt=hd&f=dN32c1&ac=NTA0fDEwfDUwMXww

quicktime player plays it fine and vic too. Also works in Chrome with html5 tags. but not the case in Firefox with flash, I can only hear the sound but the video is blank all the way.

I have other files that played ok and from the ffmpeg info, the ok ones are h264(high) and this blank one is h264(baseline)

is this an encoding issue?

How was this encoded? It looks like it is a FLV, not MP4…

it's encoded to flv on the fly from the original mp4, a video clip from Samsung Galaxy S2

this link will get you the original mp4 -

I'll modified the script tonight so mp4 becomes the default, but I can tell you now that I've already tried that and the symptoms are the same - only sound, no video.

here is the ffmpeg output for the file in question

Input #0, mov,mp4,m4a,3gp,3g2,mj2, from 'video-2011-06-11-19-21-11.mp4.ipad720p_H264_@_AAC_@.MPEG4.MP4':

I noticed another line at ffmpeg output that says -

"Seems stream 1 codec frame rate differs from container frame rate: 60000.00 (60000/1) -> 30000.00 (60000/2)"

Could this be causing the display issue?

Okay, I've found another video from youtube with h264 baseline encoding and that one played fine.

so I am officially out of ideas.

It has to be something with your encoding. Let me ask my colleague , he has more experience with ffmpeg than I do.

I’m sorry, ffmpeg settings falls outside of the scope of things we can support, I would recommend that you run your videos through a tool like Handbrake first to see of that fixes things.

this bothers me because it's a video clip straight out of a Samsung galaxy s2, it's hard to explain to my boss why the web player I recommended cannot play a file that they say they would support (h264 mp4 and aac audio).

but thanks for taking a look.

Do you know if the video was shot on the phone in portrait or landscape mode ?
