To hook into the conversation with @kathy: Does that mean that if I put the the player from http://developer.longtailvideo.com/trac/browser/branches/audiotag in a separate folder, I can reference to it when audio is used? Will that work? Or does that player also supports video but it is in beta?
Thanks Ethan. Unfortunately, the compiled files are 7 months old and I have no means(nor the knowledge) to compile new files from the younger build sets. It is also the free version, I need a copy of the licensed version that supports audio. Where can I get that?
I am having the same issue, mp3 files are not playing on the iphone, but this seems to be server related. The person who set this up used what I think is a demo playlist that links to files on some other server (jplayer.org). We added 2 at the top of the list that link to mp3/ogg files on our own server. On my mac and PC (safari and chrome) all the audio files play fine (although chrome always uses ogg for some reason).
On my iphone, the files on the jplayer server play fine but the files on our own server don't play at all. I added the mp3 and ogg mime types on the server but it seems like something else is missing. When I click the link on my iphone the play button flashes to the pause button then back again. But like I said, all the other files sitting on the jplayer.org site play just fine.
The server here is IIS 6 on win2k3.
Sorry, I cant provide a link because the server is passworded. I'm sure (pretty sure) it isn't that though. I put the files on our live server and linked to those ones and it still doesn't work.
Any ideas? I've been googling for 2 days and cant find anything! Thanks!!
Whoops, sorry. After looking through it all again I see they actually used jplayer.
However, I installed jwplayer hoping it might be the solution and the exact same thing is happening. The file plays perfectly on my mac and PC but on the iphone it just says "...the format is not supported...". There must be some server setting I'm missing here!
Just to follow up on this in case it helps anyone else, I figured it out.
The problem was the authentication. On most browsers once you authenticate you have access to the site until you close the browser. But the iphone (IOS) doesn't seem to work that way. When I clicked the file in the playlist there was no new authentication window, it just wouldn't play.
When I moved the files to our live server it worked fine.
Additionally there was another problem in jplayer where the first song in the playlist would not play until after you clicked on another song in the list, then back to the first one. I don't know if this is the program or the code on the page yet.
