streaming with amazon s3 and cloudfront using wordpress jw player plugin

Hi,

I am trying to use the wordpress jw player plugin to stream my video from amazon s3 and cloudfront. I installed the plugin and entered my info into advanced settings. I am using rtmp streaming. I then proceed to put the shortcode into the html of my wordpress page [jwplayer file="" streamer="" provider="rmtp"] . However, when i press play on the video. It opens up another page and says the file is not found.


What exactly are the steps to get wordpress jw player plugin to stream video off cloudfront and s3?

For some reason, every time i put my rtmp stream into the advanced settings of the streamer and click save.... when i go back, it shows up as

provider: rtmp
streamer: rtmp:

it erases what i put. so i decided to try using one of your short codes.

i have:

[jwplayer file="http://s3.amazonaws.com/myfilenamehere.mp4" streamer="rtmp://mystreamcodehere.cloudfront.net/cfx/st" provider="rtmp"]

When i click play, it brings up a download box and doesnt start streaming

You need to put the file related to the streamer. If you are using rtmp, the file wouldn’t have http:// in front of it.

Yes, it should be like this:
[jwplayer file="myfilenamehere.mp4" streamer="rtmp://mystreamcodehere.cloudfront.net/cfx/st" provider="rtmp"]

There is no need to refer to s3.amazonaws.com since you stream via your cloudfront distribution.

Ethan - I don't believe that is what Kevin is talking about. I'm having the same problem. He is referring to the WordPress plugin. There is an input field for provider, and an input field for streamer.

The input field for streamer doesn't work. It strips the code and removes everything after the //

so if the streamer was http://thisstreamer.com
it only saves http:

if the streamer is rtmp://mystreamcodehere.cloudfront.net/cfx/st
it will only save rtmp

It's a bug in the plugin.

It also does not write this to the plugin XML player file.

My temporary workaround, which is to manually add the streamer to the player XML file.

But I do believe it is a bug in the Plugin.

What do you write in the field of Provider under streaming? My videos aren't playing on any apple products and I have a feeling that this is why...

I don't own any apple products myself, but I have asked everyone I know who has an apple product to try and play my videos, and they all tell me none of them play.

Our WP plugin works fine using amazon cf. The bug is with the media manager part of the wp plugin. Are we talking about the same thing here?

Videos will not work on *any* apple device. I can't be any more specific than that.

Sorry, I had to use another machine here which is not mine. Browser is Safari and Machine is a Macbook last gen, OSX 10.7 Lion, Flash 11.4 is installed.

I can't tell if my cloudfront is working or not. Here is my shortcode:

[jwplayer file="daculaApalachee092012.mp4" streamer="rtmp://s1luzfodl6h6nz.cloudfront.net/cfx/st" provider="rtmp"]

The video loads super slow still just like before my cloudfront and I can't click around in the video without a ton of lag.


Any way to tell if it is working?
