Self streaming straight to server

Is it possible to live stream straight to my server website a single 1080 or 720 video feed to save the hefty CDN fees.

Hi Dave,

Can you elaborate on this? Are you saying you want to generate a stream directly from your encoder and embed it on your site using JW Player?

Please let me know. Thank you.

Sorry for the delay I've been busy. Yes that was what I was asking. I was only curious of the possibility of it. Using software and more own server bandwidth. I'm not sure it would be very feasible but asking in order to understand.

Hi Dave,

Honestly, I’m not sure as this is not in the scope of things that the JW Player Support Team has knowledge of. What it comes down to is whether or not your encoder has the ability to output a stream in a format in which the player would play – either HLS or MPEG-DASH. I have not heard of one that could do this but, like I said, I am not too well versed on the capabilities of encoders. Usually, I know you need some kind of middle-ware, like JW Live, Cloudfront or Wowza to take the stream that your encoder outputs and convert it into something playable.

I wish I had more answers for you. Please let me know if you need any more help or have any other questions.

Thank you!
