All of my thumbs appear very dark, unacceptably so, compared to the originals. Why is that? Should I brighten the originals?
Also, some of my thumbs would never appear; despite several attempts, they always failed. I finally recognized a commonality -- the fails were all .gif images, which clearly are not acceptable. The site should say that somewhere.

Hello,

Please see this demo built by my colleague Alex, which shows the CSS to use to get rid of the poster image overlay in the player:

Hope this helps.

Terrific! Problem solved! Thank you, Heidi!!

I'm at a loss, though, to understand why anyone would want to obscure their posters, as opposed to just making them look the way they wanted in Photoshop.

Hello,

I believe the thinking is, the player window brightens after you click play, so the overlay distinguishes the difference between an idle and active player for your viewers. Happy the workaround solved your issue!
