This demo is great however it clearly doesn't use JW8... How do i achieve similar with JW8 whereby it'll play the movies on demand and not mute them... other than using JW7 (which isn't ideal)... some of my pages have 15 videos on them for project pages, so I don't want to initialise them all on page load

I just checked https://developer.jwplayer.com/jw-player/demos/innovation/click-to-play/ and it is definitely loading JW8. Check the network request for the player library and you can see the version number.
As for a page with 15 videos that are not all initialized, my suggestion would be to either load them in a playlist and draw a listbar via CSS and Javascript like I do at http://qa.jwplayer.com/~todd/jw8-custom-listbar.html.
