Roku Stream Error

Hi
I am using this URL to feed Roku,
https://content.jwplatform.com/feeds/YKcHzrab.json
but I get the following error:
"No valid items were found in the feed"
I added the custom parameters of providername and lastupdated - which squelched those errors, but still have current error.
Please can someone help shed some light?
Thanks so much
Colin

Hi Colin,

Currently, Roku’s platform does not support the JSON feeds that we provide from our platform. Our RSS feeds do work on Roku though so can you try changing your Feed URL in Roku’s dashboard to the same URL, but with the .rss file extension, to see if it works?

Thank you.

Hi Alex

Thanks for replying.

Tried the rss with every option. No go.
https://content.jwplatform.com/feeds/YKcHzrab.rss
I have various curated feeds. This one has 2 variables - this is the error: "The feed format is invalid. We are unable to parse it."

This one has no custom fields: https://content.jwplatform.com/feeds/398Y8eJM.rss
Also won't work.
I just cannot figure it out - what am I missing?

Thanks so much
Colin
P.S I did post on Roku forum too:

Hi Colin,

I think I found out why it’s not working. Roku requires your content to at least have descriptions for them – they may require permalinks as well. I went into your dashboard and added test content for both the “Description” and “Permalink” fields for the two videos in that playlist and now Roku’s platform is accepting them.

I wish Roku’s Developer Portal had a better error stating why it had issues ingesting your playlist, but it looks like it was missing some information.

I would recommend changing the description and permalink for each video to something you would want it to actually say. Please note that changes you make to those fields in the dashboard do take around 5 minutes to actually take affect in the RSS feed.

Thank you!
