HLS Streaming with DVR in IE Edge

I am trying to set up a HLS streaming with DVR support, which is working in Chrome, Safari (although Safari starts at the beginning of the stream and not at the most current position), and Firefox (with 7.7 beta).

It does not seem to work with IE (Edge, Win10). Even the example given here (https://support.jwplayer.com/customer/portal/articles/1430265-dvr-live-streaming) is not working in my IE. Is this a browser configuration issue? Or is DVR not supported in IE?

A bit of additional information, sorry for not beeing accurate: The stream is working, IE is playing it. But it is not rewindable. The position bar does not appear and seeking with JavaScript does not work neither.

Hi Paul,

My name is Alex and I am one of the Team Leads of the Support Team at JW Player. I will be more than happy to assist you with your questions.

Since DVR functionality is not natively supported in Microsoft Edge, it will not work in our player in HTML5. If the player is rendered in Flash, the DVR functionality should work in Edge. For IE 11, the HLS stream should always play in Flash since IE does not support HLS at all, so DVR functionality should work.

When I test the player on our DVR Live Streaming support article on a Windows 10 computer, the HLS live stream plays in Edge, but without DVR functionality. In IE 11, the HLS stream plays (in Flash) with DVR functionality.

Please let me know if you need any more help or have any other questions.

Thank you!
