JW player 7 and Touch events propagation

Hi,

I am trying to setup multiple jwplayers instance inside swipable carousel so users could swipe between different videos player and photos.
It seems that touch events (touchstart touchmove) that occurred inside the player are not propagated to the parent html nodes. Is there away to let those event propage up ? I am using JWplayer 7.

thanks

Are you using the web player or one of our SDKs?

Hi Seb,

If I understand your issue correctly, you want to be able to advance to the next item in the carousel, but the player hijacks the “swipe”, so that doesn’t occur. Is that right?

Alternately, are you trying to automatically play a video when you swipe into the “slide” that contains video? For example, do you want to go from a photo to a JW Player video, so that when you swipe to make the video active, playback should automatically start (I’m not sure if that’s occurring)?

Please tell me more about what you are trying to do.

Hi heidi,

sorry about the late answer.

Yes correct, when the user wants to advance to the next item in the carousel ( and current item is a jwplayer video), swiping on the video player is a no operation, so the user has to swipe outside the video to be able to get to the next slide.
Here is an example where the carousel has photo A --> jwplayer video --> photo B ( https://livevote.ipowow.com/show2 ) . If you load it in your phone you see that to access photo B you need to swipe outside the video player at the moment, it will be good if the video player does not swallow the swipe event and propagate it.
re: automatically play a video when you swipe into the “slide” that contains video. This is currently working great. No changes needed on this one.

thanks

Hello Seb,

Thank you for contacting the JW Player support team. My name is Randy and I work with Heidi on the support team. Can we confirm that there is no overlay that might be causing some difficulty with the player and the user during mobile use? The reason I am asking is that I know within a basic player setup the JW Player embed will function as expected. Could there potentially be some CSS within the carousel that is conflicting?

Kindly,
