Embedding Live HLS Stream on facebook

What is the method for embedding jwplayer 7 on facebook for playing a livestream in a post? We have tried the share link but it seems to embed an old version of jwplayer in flash that does not work with HLS.

Hi there,

Facebook does not allow third-parties to post HLS streams on their site. They have also made a lot of changes to their video platforms that made embedding the actual player on Facebook impossible in JW 6 and JW 7 – this is why JW 5 gets embedded into Facebook when content is shared to it.

Please let me know if you need any more help or have any other questions.

Thank you!

The sharing code that DaCast supplies for sharing on Facebook and Twitter actually embeds a F4M (Flash Media Manifest) file which contains a RTMP stream, which Facebook does support.

Please let me know if you need any more help or have any other questions.

Thank you!

Is there a way to set that up within JWPLAYER?

When you use the Publish Mode feature of our Account Dashboard to create a single-line embed code, that code automatically includes the ability to share content to Facebook and have it playable on user’s timeline. Please see the bottom section of our Social Sharing support article for more information. This is the only support method for sharing content from our player onto Facebook and have it playable within Facebook.
