Video not playing in Firefox

My JW Player 7 video no longer loads in Firefox and I am unsure as to why (it worked as recently as last week - my browser is up to date as is my Flash player). It is working fine in Chrome and IE. I am on Windows 10 64 bit.

The site in question is: http://bloomsburyfilms.com/

I'd appreciate any input as to why this is happening and how to get it to work again.

With JW Player v7.2.0 they introduced an issue with playing media in Firefox when a relative URL is used to access that media.

You can either provide a fully qualified URL to your media files, or update to 7.3.4 (the issue was resolved in 7.3.0)

@James

Thanks(arigato) to you I didn't update when you mentioned the 'relative path issue' releases ago.

Now I am updating all JWPlayer examples to 7.3.4 which has again led to some anomalies to which I am waiting a response.

btw. nice name 'Haiku' do you like Japanese poetry?

Can you provide a link directly to a video that is not playing for you in Firefox?

Hi, Iris.

As Willie alluded to, there was an issue with our player in Firefox when relative URLs were used in your embed code. Since you have file: “banner.mp4” in your code, this would be the issue for you as well.

Firefox has resolved this issue and the resolution can be found in the beta version of Firefox, which will hopefully soon be released to the general public.

In the meantime, if you want to resolve this issue without waiting for the new version of Firefox, you can change file: “banner.mp4” to file: “http://bloomsburyfilms.com/banner.mp4”.

Please let me know if you need any more help or have any other questions.

Thank you!

@Alex

yup, v.7.34 does not have the "relative path issue for media"
I am currently using FF44.0.2. I believe that FF45 will be released the week of March 8.

I am a firm believer in 'relativity' in fact Albert Einstein's quote
"we cannot solve our problems with the same way of thinking we used to create them" can easily be applied to web design
as follows:

"We cannot create web sites today with the same technology that was used yesterday"

btw, how does one in the forum create bold and links or is it just for the support? Can you email this info?

Hi, Willie.

Unfortunately, I just tested this by replying on the forums and it didn’t work. I believe it’s only available when replying using our help desk software.
