On demand streaming on all platforms

Hello there,
We where evaluating JWplayer to integrate in our product. There are few queries we have:
1. Assumption: We have video files like .mp4, wmv, mov stored in S3, we can convert them to support on-demand streaming
2. Can we use Cloudfront to stream contents, which streaming protocol (RTMP,HLS,HDS) is correct to support on all platforms like web, mobile apps (android, ios)
3. Does JWPlayer supports ondemand streaming on all platforms like web, mobile apps (android, ios) ?? we have web application implemented using AngularJS and Mobile apps using Ionic.

Hi, there.

My name is Alex and I am one of the Support Engineers at JW Player. I will be more than happy to assist you with your questions.

1. Assumption: We have video files like .mp4, wmv, mov stored in S3, we can convert them to support on-demand streaming

You have two options if you have static video files that you want to use our player to stream. You can either upload the MP4 or MOV files to the Content section of your Account Dashboard and then use the “Embed” feature to embed your content onto your web site. When you embed content this way, we automatically generate a HLS stream for you.

Your other option would be to work with a third-party streaming provider, such as Cloudfront or Wowza.

2. Can we use Cloudfront to stream contents, which streaming protocol (RTMP,HLS,HDS) is correct to support on all platforms like web, mobile apps (android, ios)

We do not support HDS streams through Cloudfront. We do support RTMP and HLS streams through Cloudfront, but RTMP streams require Flash for playback, so they will not work on mobile devices. HLS streams are supported on both iOS and Android.

3. Does JWPlayer supports ondemand streaming on all platforms like web, mobile apps (android, ios) ?? we have web application implemented using AngularJS and Mobile apps using Ionic.

Please visit the Streaming section of our Media Format Reference for information on what streaming formats we support in certain browsers and devices. We do not specifically provide support or documentation for using our player with Angular or Ionic, but as long as you have some way to embed JavaScript on your page, it should work fine.

Please let me know if you need any more help or have any other questions.

Thank you!
