IE 11 and 4k playback

I have noticed, that on IE 11, i cannot playback the 1440p or 2160p videos. I can change qualities up to 1080p which work fine, but beyond that I get "Error loading media: File could not be played". I have no issue with Chrome or Firefox.

The link to test video is here... https://video.arnes.si/portal/asset.zul?id=D1VOWk8NMXD8f7EemIYEnXmr

Any idea why this is happening? I can play 4k videos from Youtube in IE without a problem.

Hi, there.

Your 4k video works for me in IE 11 on Windows 8.1 and Windows 10, but not in Windows 7. This appears to be because Windows 7 doesn’t have the proper support for 4k video. This was confirmed when I watched a 4k video on YouTube – in Windows 7, you can right-click on the YouTube video and see that it’s using Flash Player to help it render it, but in newer versions of Windows, YouTube renders it in HTML5.

Please let me know if you need any more help or have any other questions.

Thank you!
