Multi-Audio and/or subtitles(closed captions) in non-streamed files

Since i could not find complete information regarding this matter, i am asking it here:

Does JWplayer 7 now support multiple tracks in non-streamed files? (i read that its possible in hls, but what about .mp4 that are not streamed? what about other streaming protocols like rtmp?)

What about closed captions (or other subtitles). Again, regarding .mp4 files and/or rtmp streams. Is it possible to add a cc to a .mp4 for playing? is it possible to add more than 1 so the user can choose while he/shes watching?

Hi, there.

My name is Alex and I am one of the Support Engineers at JW Player. I will be more than happy to assist you with your questions.

Multiple audio renditions is only supported when using HLS streams. A potential workaround for this may be to include MP4s encoded with different audio versions inside of a playlist and instruct the viewer that they can hover over the playlist button in the control bar to choose the language.

As for captions, we support multiple captions tracks for any type of media. You can find more information regarding using this feature on our Adding Closed Captions support article.

Please let me know if you need any more help or have any other questions.

Thank you!
