I suddenly am getting a black screen with audio only on videos across website. It seems only in mobile devices. It is a wordpress site and I am using the JW6 plugin.
I have deactivated all other plug ins and no change. The only other thing is recent wp update but other sites have same with no issues.
I have also just tried your link on a Samsung Galaxy S4 and a Galaxy Tab 4 (we don’t have a Tab 3) and the video is playing as expected in Chrome. If we’re not able to reproduce the issue on our end, there’s not going to be much we can do to troubleshoot why it is not working for you.
Thanks for the help. I know its hard to check if it isn't happening on your end. Not sure what is going on. I have noted checking again yesterday after getting your feedback that now it is playing on tablet but not Galaxy S4. It plays fine on ios devices. I guess I will keep an eye and see if it happens again on tablet and recheck phone in a day or so. The videos are being sent from AWS S3. Not sure if that may have something to do with it.
If you have any ideas let me know. Otherwise thanks again
PS - If I upgrade the jy player 7 how hard will it be to update current players?
Having content hosted on S3 shouldn’t be a factor at all. A good number of our customers host content there. As for upgrading to JW 7, I took a look at your source code on your page and it looks like your embed code (the actual jwplayer().setup method) would work fine with JW 7, so you would just need to change the URL of the player library in the <head> of your document to a version 7 player from your Account Dashboard. However, I do have a couple quick notes about upgrading:
1. Please check out our Migration from JW 6 to JW 7 article for important tips and notes about upgrading.
2. If you use our JavaScript API, play close attention to the “API Changes” section on the migration page, as it details changes to the syntax you should use with our API.
3. As with any major upgrade, we suggest you test out your embed on a non-user facing test page just to make sure everything is working for you before pushing it into production.
Please let me know if you need any more help or have any other questions.
Thank you!
