Hi, there.

My name is Alex and I am one of the Support Engineers at JW Player. I will be more than happy to assist you with your questions.

1) No, you do not have to host your content with us. You can specify any URL in your player embed code for our player to play. Please see Basic Video Embed for more information.

2) I assume you mean RTMP, which our player fully supports. The important thing to remember about RTMP streams, which I’m sure you’re aware of, is that it requires Flash on all devices to play. So, this means that the stream will not be able to be played on mobile devices, nor any computer that does not have Flash Player installed on it. Please see About RTMP Streaming and Using RTMP Streaming for more information.

3) As long as the YouTube videos are not set to private, then our player can play them. Please see YouTube Video Embed for more information.

Please let me know if you need any more help or have any other questions.

Thank you!
