Received repeated 404 errors during a HLS stream using JW Player v7.1.5. and Wowza with Cloudfront

We use JW Player v7.1.5 and Wowza Streaming Engine v4.02, with AWS CloudFront. During an 1 hour HLS stream on Monday we experienced a 6 minute period of 404 errors like so:

http://d30owrsr1lg5de.cloudfront.net/live01cf/smil:myStream01.smil/chunklist_b1064000_sleng.m3u8 Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 404 (Not Found)

We have used Wowza with Cloudfront successfully on an older version of JW Player in the past, however this was our first time using it with v7.1.5

We also had an MS SmoothStream playing on a Silverlight player at the same time, which played without interruption.

This post, where a user reports a similar scenario has lead me to look into JW Player as a possible cause.

Hi, Tim.

My name is Alex and I am one of the Support Engineers at JW Player. I will be more than happy to assist you with your questions.

Can you please give me a link to a page where you have the affected player installed? Also, have you tried the resolution in the support forum post that you referenced?

I am having the same problem. Random 404 errors after upgrading to 7. Never had the issue with 6.
