JWplayer stops playing video after 2-3 minutes, audio continues to play in FireFox

OS : Windows 7
Hardware : Lenovo 3000 Laptop
Drivers : All updated

Browser : Firefox 40.0.3 (Latest stable)

Flash player : Not installed (Should I ?)

Site that shows issue : Putlocker

Plugin installed : Ghostery

The video simply freezes after 2-3 minutes and the audio keeps on playing. Had the issue with multiple (if not all) videos.

Any solution to this ?

Update : Installed latest version of Flash player : same issue.

Installed HTML5 plugin with Flash-block : same issue.

Tried disabling Ghostery : again, same :(

Running out of ideas here...

Hi, there!

Can you please give me a link to a page where you have the affected player installed?

Ok, after 2 hours of trial and error, here goes a solution (I wonder).

1. Install latest version of flash player for Firefox (18 today)
2. Play any video, right click on it, select the 'settings' (flash settings, not the global)
3. DISABLE 'hardware acceleration'
4. Live happily ever after.

I also went to 'manage your add-ons' in FF and changed the activation status of flash to 'ask to activate'

(OR, use Google Chrome)

Hi!

Yes – hardware acceleration in Flash sometimes causes those issues on some video cards, but it looks like you got everything taken care of!

Please let me know if you need any more help or have any other questions.

Thank you!

Hi Alex,

I wasn't aware of that. I was initially trying a workaround without installing flash player and didn't tried to disable the hardware acceleration on my graphics unit as well.

It seems to be working fine now, thank you for the support.
