HLS Starting File / Quality

Hello,

is it possible to set the starting file or quality from a m3u8 list?

Right now the streaming starts with the lowest quality -which is visually annoying- no matter its position in the m3u8 and the streaming works its way up to the best matching quality.

Or is this a directive in the m3u8 file? Or does it need to be set server side?

The way it's supposed to work and I don't think you can change it ( not 100% sure)
You can make your chunks a smaller duration, this would force the better quality to arrive quicker
