Wordpress Multisite + JWPlayer plugin 2.1.12 + Pro license = License not being saved in settings

Hello

This is about the Wordpress plugin.

We have been using another player for sometime and just a few days ago we decided to switch to JWPlayer and purchased the Pro-license.
We host the videos at S3 and the streaming itself seems to work just fine with the WP Plugin "JW Player for Flash & HTML5 Video". Version: 2.1.12.

The problem is that we are unable to save the License Key through the JWPlayer-plugins settings-page. The settings-page seems to "receive" the License Key and it doesn't complain anything. However, nothing seems to happen: the JWPlayer-logo stays on the video and no extra 'setting-tabs' appear.
Also, if we access the Settings-page again, the License Key is gone and the License Version has reverted to "Free".

We are running a Wordpress 4.1.1 installation with "Multisite"-feature. All the 'sites' are running under same domain and we tried to enable/disable the plugin on just one site and also 'server-wide', which didn't seem to make any difference.

The instructions at http://support.jwplayer.com/customer/portal/articles/1403712-wordpress-plugin-quickstart
gives a hint about the subject:
On certain server configurations, the plugin activation process not be successful due to your wp-content/uploads folder not being writable or your WordPress installation having insufficient privileges. For more information on setting file permissions please refer to this WordPress Codex entry.

Could someone elaborate more on that? We should have all the privileges set correctly. What should we be looking for? (And no, we haven't tried chmod -R 777 * or anything like that..)

Thanks!

I would email support at jwplayer dot com directly with an admin account, so they can poke around and see what’s going on, as I have not heard of such an issue before. Also providing a link to your public facing website where the issue is happening is also encouraged.
