Self-hosted streaming server?

Howdy,

I have a requirement for for videos on our intranet, all content must be self-hosted. We are using the premium version, but rather than just loading static video files, I'm wondering if there is an streaming server package that we can host internally that would work with JWPlayer, specifically to do bitrate sampling for users at remote locations and thin clients. External hosting is not an option.

Hello,

In an Intranet setup you can host your own files and JW Player library with a Premium Account. You will however, need to allow access for the player to communicate with JW Player backend servers since there are certain dependancies that files must request data from.

Kindly,
Randy

There are several video servers, the main ones are Wowza (commercial) and Red5 (opensource). Both can be installed on a local server (there are in java)
