I am confused on trying to setup JW Player 6 Plugin for WordPress to play videos from Amazon S3, using the secure method where the full URL is not shown, on webpage source. I did see on these posts some mention of some setting but not clear where it is.
If this setting exists, is there a way to hide the URL on the play lists that can be created in WordPress. The video name can be there, just the front end of the URL can be excluded as input to the player. Is this possible?
I would appreciate any direction that can be given.
Hello -
The video source cannot be hidden on the front-end. You can use content-protection to secure your videos, but there is no way to hide the full url to a video. Content protection must be configured with your CDN/hosting -

I am evaluating a product called S3flowshield (s3flowshield.com). This a product specifically for S3 & WordPress using your competing player. It "hides" the URL of the video when you look at the source code.
You can check it out at http://kineticvideo.ca/t1/ You can check out the JWP version at http://kineticvideo.ca/t1/?page_id=771.
The S3flowshield solution is great but cannot handle built-in playlists, Google Analytics and some other features of JWP. The way they tackled it can be seen here http://kineticvideo.ca/t1/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/jwp2.jpg (can't have attachments). They then generate a URL that requires a higher level mind to decode.
It would be great if the WordPress plugin that you have, could implement an option like this. Then on using the JWP playlist, you can store or mask out the prefix to the video so that on a webpage source you will not see the full URL of the video play list.
This will should be a great seller considering the combo of WordPress (most popular CMS) and Amazon S3 popular video streamer. I would be willing to pay for as others would
If you have no plans/consideration to implement this, would it be possible to get it programmed by you for us?
Hiding the video source isn’t a reliable way to protect video content. You will still be able to see the request to the video file if you monitor your network tab or use an http monitor on your computer. The only true way to prevent users from stealing content is to have it behind content protection. I’m afraid we do not do consulting work so it would not be possible for us to build you a custom tool like you mentioned.

If you’re doing you’re own hosting, you must build your own content protection system on your hosting server. We cannot protect your content if it’s not hosted with us (JWplatform).
